FAQ's - PAS2030/2035

PAS 2035 is a new British standard that creates a recognisable quality standard for the retrofit and energy efficiency sector for housing. All projects funded by the Warm Home: Social Housing Fund, Energy Company Obligation or Local Authority Delivery Scheme will be required to comply with the standard.
While PAS 2030 focuses on the quality of the installation processes, PAS 2035 ensures that the retrofit is appropriate for the building as a whole. This collaboration between the two standards ensures that retrofit projects are both well-executed and suitable for the long-term health of the building.
PAS 2030 compliance refers to adhering to the British Standard (PAS 2030) for the installation of energy efficiency measures in existing buildings. It's a crucial aspect of retrofit projects, ensuring high-quality, compliant installations that deliver the intended sustainability outcomes. Certification to PAS 2030 is often a requirement for accessing public funding for energy efficiency upgrades, such as those under the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) and Green Homes Grant Local Authority Delivery schemes.
Is it mandatory? PAS 2035 is not mandatory for all retrofits, but since 20 June 2021, PAS 2035 compliance has been a requirement for any publicly funded retrofit projects.
PAS2035 standards have introduced five new roles, and one was existing; Retrofit Advisor, Retrofit Assessor, Retrofit Co-ordinator, Retrofit Designer, and Retrofit Evaluator – with the existing role of the Retrofit Installer.
